Carsten Nielsen
Carsten Nielsen, born in November 1974 in Aalborg, began his dance career in 1989 and has since become an internationally sought-after caller. He calls dance programs from MS to C2. He discovered his passion for calling early on, when he had to flip cassettes during his class – this sparked the desire to become a caller himself. In 1990, he attended his first caller school and has since taken on numerous international engagements. Additionally, he works as a producer for the record label New Beat.
Martin Kromer
Martin first came into contact with square dance in 1990 and immediately decided that he wouldn’t be doing anything like that himself anytime soon… In September 1990, he attended his first Open House in Schwäbisch Hall. By July 1991, he was already behind the microphone, presenting three singing calls to a group of hardcore square dancers. After the first sequence of figures, the entire hall came to a standstill. That was not how he had imagined his “debut.”
The subsequent attendance at several caller schools had an impact: nowadays, there is more dancing than standing at his sessions. In his over 20 years as a caller, he was the club caller for 15 years with the Very Hot Square Dancers in Oberndorf/Neckar and for 16 years with the Stuttgart Strutters.
Today, Martin calls for the Schwäbisch Sweethearts in Schwäbisch Hall and the Castle Ghosts in Leingarten. Martin is a member of Callerlab and ECTA, where he served as Vice-President and President from 1997 to 2000.
Since 2013, Martin has been deeply involved in the training of callers and is a staff member at the School of Caller Education and Leadership Development. In July 2017, he successfully completed the accreditation process to become a Callerlab Accredited Caller Coach.
Philipp Aff
Philipp was born in 1984 in Bad Kreuznach and lives in Hüffelsheim, near Bad Kreuznach.
He made his first attempts at calling during his class in 1998.
After his graduation, he occasionally called a few tips at the club nights of his home club, the Red Rock Hoppers. Since 2007, he has been calling regularly as a club caller. Philipp now calls for three clubs, from beginner level to C1, and at various specials and jamborees across Europe.
Philipp is an active member of ECTA e.V. and Callerlab, and from 2007 to 2013, he served as ECTA Secretary.
Since 2024, he has been the Square Dance Coordinator, and since June, he has been mentoring two callers.
Philipp has already held several seminars at ECTA Conventions and is now taking the next steps towards caller education.
